DO I HAVE TO USE THE AUTO BODY SHOP MY INSURANCE COMPANY RECOMMENDS?
You are not required to use an auto body shop recommended by your insurance provider. As stated by all 50 states’ laws, you maintain the freedom to select your own repair facility. Insurers often promote their “direct repair” (DRP) shops in order to manage expenses, but you have the option to opt for a reputable establishment like Cockrell’s that values excellence and utilizes OEM-certified parts.
HOW WILL YOU WORK WITH MY INSURANCE?
Cockrell’s will work directly with insurance companies, managing the appraisal and supplement process.
HOW LONG WILL REPAIRS TAKE?
Repair time is dependent on the complexity of the repairs, the situation, the availability of parts and materials, and much more. It truly varies from one situation to the next. We will provide an estimated time of completion at the same time we provide the cost estimate, although this does not include the time it may take for any additional damage repairs found in teardown. In the end, Cockrell’s Body Shop would rather make sure that the job is done right, than done fast.
WHAT HAPPENS IF ADDITIONAL DAMAGE IS FOUND AFTER THE ESTIMATE?
Regrettably, the initial observation and inspection cannot always detect underlying damages. As we proceed with repairs, Cockrell’s may uncover additional issues that require attention. If this occurs, we will reach out to the insurance company to obtain approval for any additional damages and inform you prior to proceeding.
WHAT IS MY DEDUCTIBLE AND WHO DO I PAY?
Your deductible is the amount you must pay before your insurance covers the remaining repair costs. The range can vary from no payment required to thousands of dollars, depending on your insurance policy. Your deductible is paid to Cockrell’s Body Shop when you pick up your vehicle, and can be presented in check, credit card, or cash.
DO I NEED MORE THAN ONE ESTIMATE?
No, you are not legally required to get multiple estimates, though it can be helpful for comparison.
IF MY VEHICLE'S FRAME IS DAMAGED, IS IT A TOTAL LOSS?
Nowadays, frame damage doesn’t automatically mean a vehicle is beyond repair. With advanced equipment, proven repair techniques, and the expertise of our team at Cockrell’s Body Shop, we’re often able to restore even severely damaged frames to safe, manufacturer-approved standards. Naturally, the extent of the damage plays a role, the less severe, the greater the likelihood of salvaging the vehicle.
WILL MY PAINT MATCH?
Yes, provided that your vehicle is an original factory color that is not faded or discolored. With advanced color matching techniques, Cockrell’s Body Shop uses paint specially for your vehicle. Our team is able to match the factory finish, making the repairs invisible.
DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?
We recommend scheduling an appointment in advance using our easy-to-use online form. However, if you’re short on time, feel free to call us at 251-621-8600, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GENUINE, OEM, AND AFTERMARKET PARTS?
Genuine parts are branded by the manufacturer, and are the exact part found in your original vehicle – important if you want to keep all matching parts. OEM parts are the parts manufactured by the factory supplier for your vehicle, and will match them, but may not have the genuine branding. Aftermarket parts are third-party equivalents of the original factory parts. While we aim to use Genuine and OEM parts, aftermarket parts are also an option if needed or requested. Often, this is at the discretion of the insurance company and their guidelines, so make sure to consult with your agent.
WHAT WILL I DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME?
Cockrell’s Body Shop’s team can assist with arranging a rental vehicle for you. We have partnerships with various companies that offer rental cars, trucks, or SUVs. Depending on your insurance policy, you may be eligible for a rental through your coverage. Additionally, there are other potential sources of coverage such as new vehicle warranties, extended warranties, and credit cards that could potentially lower the cost of your rental – our team can assist in determining if any discounts are applicable to your specific situation.
ARE MY REPAIRS WARRANTIED?
Yes, Cockrell’s Body Shop offers a lifetime warranty on the labor performed, as well as a warranty from the original equipment manufacturer for each individual part.
